GENERAL INFORMATION

Professor Dr. Mehmet Karaçuka is a professor at the Department of Economics at Ege University in Izmir (Turkey). He is also a Research Fellow at the Center for Advanced Internet Studies (CAIS) in Bochum, an interdisciplinary research college funded by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, focusing on digitalization. Mehmet Karacuka is also a permanent guest professor at Heinrich Heine University in Dusseldorf, at Dusseldorf Institute for Competitipn Econonomics (DICE). He studied at Law and Economics Institute at University of Hamburg during his doctoral thesis and received his PhD by the Dokuz Eylul University. He was a researcher at the Erasmus University Rotterdam and guest scholar at the Düsseldorf Institute for Competition Economics (DICE). He was an invited researcher at Telecommunications Authority in Turkey to analyze the competitive dynamics and regulation in Turkish telecommunication markets, and submitted reports on relevant markets and market power. He took part in several projects focusing on digitalization and competition in network industries. Mehmet’s main interest areas are focused on political and institutional aspects of economic and competitive processes, as well as energy and telecommunications markets.
